She may be besties with that awful Stewie Puss, but we'll forgive her, because Dakota Fanning is the most adorable, well-adjusted teenage celebrity of all time! Girlfriend was recently set to attend a pre-junket screening of her new sparkly vampire extravaganza, Eclipse, but had to bail - because she was taking the ACT college admissions test! She says:
LOLz! We're glad to see that she's using her fame and success as an excuse to not get an education, like the skanky MileyBird!! College is a great experience for EVERYONE! New docs have been unearthed that state that Gary Coleman "did not want anyone to pull the plug on him" if he were ever in that situation. The ironic twist - Shannon Price (Coleman's money hungry ex-wife), was the the one to file these documents - oh and the same person who authorized doctors to take him off life support last month. Hmm… yet another ironic twist. Why was he taken off life support if he had already expressed his wishes "to be prolonged as long as possible within the limits of generally accepted health care standards" ???? [Image via WENN.] |

Look at that beautiful stunning glow! (And that little round midsection!) Only a month after announcing her pregnancy, Kelly Preston is starting to show a little baby bump! She and hubby John Travolta set sail for South Africa this weekend as part of the Nelson Mandella's Children Fund to see the World Cup and get involved with some local charities. While traveling with some of the children benefitting from the organization, John and Kelly donated $10k to the NMCF! So sweet! So humble! We just couldn't be happier for you both! | Gay Men Ban From Donating Blood Upheld! Posted: 14 Jun 2010 04:37 PM PDT
This is very disappointing and upsetting. The Federal Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability voted 9 to 6 against lifting the ban on gays to donate blood on Friday. The archaic ruling dictates that any man who has had sex with another man since 1977, even once, is ineligible to donate blood. The ban was instituted in the early 1980s, when concerns about HIV-positive blood were at their highest and there were no tests to identify the disease from donated blood. However, the year is 2010, we have all the resources to safely test HIV tainted blood supplies, and yet the committee recommended keeping the policy, calling it a precaution. Just to put this in perspective for a minute: one report found that 219,000 more pints of blood could be available each year if the FDA lifted the ban. Think of the amount of lies that could be saved with those kinds of resources! The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force cited this figure in its response to the decision, as well as saying: "The committee's decision today not only leaves a discriminatory practice in place, it also puts lives at risk." We would have thought that we, as a nation, had become more open-minded than this. It's sad to hear that we are wrong. [Image via AP Images.] |

Yay! We're so happy to see her healthy and working again! Although she had to drop out of Parenthood to undergo treatment for breast cancer - which she beat! - Maura Tierney has signed on to star on the new ABC legal drama The Whole Truth! Girlfriend will be replacing Joely Richardson as the deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney's office! Sounds like pretty standard ABC fare, but we know she'll a great job - that is, if the show doesn't get axed! What do U think?? Will U watch The Whole Truth?? [Image via WENN.] |

We're very impressed! Jason Mraz became the first celebrity to participate on the ground with "Free the Slaves", a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "end slavery worldwide." Jason traveled to Ghana this past week and spent five days in the country traveling with a former child slave to learn more about the injustice. James Kofi Annan, Jason's guide, founded a school in Winneba, where many former slaves come to learn and be free. Peggy Callahan, the organization's co-founder and executive producer, said that it was very special for her and the children to see Jason's involvement with the cause:
It's horrible to think of what these poor children are going through, but it's wonderful to know there are those fighting for their freedom. Props to you Jason for doing some much needed good in another neighborhood! [Image via WENN.] |
