Scientologists Banned From Wikipedia!

Posted: 29 May 2009 05:15 PM PDT

The powers that be over at Wikipedia have made a ruling against the Church of Scientology being allowed access to edit entries on their website.

The "free encyclopedia" and eighth most popular site on the Internet banned all contributions from IP addresses affiliated with the organization for allegedly pushing its own agenda on the site. After a six month deliberation, the site's Arbitration Committee voted 10 to 0 (with one abstention) in favor of the move and the ban goes into effect immediately.

Many individuals are banned from the site for adding propaganda or false accusations (remember when Sinbad was declared "dead"?), but this is the first time a high profiled organization has been given the boot.

The folks over at the website stress that their site offers a "neutral viewpoint" and insist that "use of the encyclopedia to advance personal agendas – such as advocacy or propaganda and philosophical, ideological or religious dispute – or to publish or promote original research is prohibited."

Scientology's problems with Wikipedia comes just on the heels of the opening of an actual trial that could see the dissolution of the organization's French chapter.

Rough week to believe in science, huh?

The Jonas Brothers' new TV show, Jonas, is not fairing as well as anyone had wished. The Disney Channel had hoped that the trio of brothers, Kevin, Nick, and Joe, could hold thier own against the tough competition over at Nickelodeon on Saturday night.

They were wrong.

So, the show has just been moved to Sunday nights for the summer months, hoping to catch the attention of little tweens everywhere on their new night.

Perhaps JoBro fever is dying down?

Legendary Vegas Showman Killed By Steroids?

Famous Vegas entertainer Danny Gans tragically died unexpectedly early this month in his sleep, which shocked many who knew him as the picture of perfect health. Danny was known for his health-conscious eating habits and strict exercise routine.

But, now, new reports are arising saying that the Man of Many Voices (as he was known on the strip) may have weaken his heart with steroids . According to the National Enquirer, friends close to the impersonator and once minor league baseball player state that Danny started to look "unnatural" and feared it was drugs that were the cause.

An insider suggests "You can never look good enough or appear strong enough. People here believe it took it's toll on Danny."

No one can confirm that Danny had used steroids, but it hasn't stopped people from talking in Vegas and they feel Danny had used the drugs in secret for a very long time.

"His facial characteristics had changed to the point that when we saw him…a couple of weeks ago, we didn't recognize him," adds a source.

How sad.

Ozzy Osbourne Suing Former Bandmate!

In a filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Godfather of Metal Ozzy Osbourne is suing Black Sabbath guitarist, Tony Iommi, for allegedly claiming sole ownership of the band's name.

Osbourne is looking to receive 50% interest in the Black Sabbath trademark as his "signature lead vocals" were largely responsible for their success.

When Ozzy left the band in 1980, the popularity of their popularity significantly declined until he returned in the late '90s

We get it, but Ozzy has a ton of money! We feel sorry for anyone still trying to milk Black Sabbath's success!

Poor Iommi! Get a new gig!

Update: The following official statement has just been released by Ozzy Osbourne:

"It is with great regret that I had to resort to legal action against my long term partner, Tony Iommi, but after three years of trying to resolve this issue amicably, I feel I have no other recourse. As of the mid-1990's, after constant and numerous changes in band members, the brand of "Black Sabbath" was literally in the toilet and Tony Iommi (touring under the name Black Sabbath) was reduced to performing in clubs. Since 1997 when Geezer, Bill and myself rejoined the band, Black Sabbath has returned to its former glory as we headlined sold-out arenas and amphitheatres playing to upwards of 50,000 people at each show around the world. We worked collectively to restore credibility and bring dignity back to the name "Black Sabbath" which lead to the band being inducted into the UK and US Rock & Roll Hall of Fames in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Throughout the last 12 years, it was my management representatives who oversaw the marketing and quality control of the "Black Sabbath" brand through OZZFEST, touring, merchandising and album reissues. The name "Black Sabbath" now has a worldwide prestige and merchandising value that it would not have had by continuing on the road it was on prior to the 1997 reunion tour. Tony, I am so sorry it's had to get to this point by me having to take this action against you. I don't have the right to speak for Geezer and Bill, but I feel that morally and ethically the trademark should be owned by the four of us equally. I hope that by me taking this first step that it will ultimately end up that way. We've all worked too hard and long in our careers to allow you to sell merchandise that features all our faces, old Black Sabbath album covers and band logos, and then you tell us that you own the copyright. We're all in our 60's now. The Black Sabbath legacy should live on long after we have all gone. Please do the right thing."
