| The Scene That Was Written For Shatner in the new Star Trek Film! Posted: 12 May 2009 05:45 PM PDT
The writers of the new Star Trek have just revealed that in an early draft of the film's script, the series' original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, was to make a cameo! "We did write a Shatner scene," writer Roberto Orci explains. "And we were ultimately split internally. We didn't want it to be a gimmick; we wanted to really bring him back in the right way." Orci's writing partner, Alex Kurtzman, reveals the set up:
So what was the problem??? Oh, only that Shatner's character kicked the the bucket in 1994's Star Trek: Generations!! Even though the hologram would have pre-dated Captain Kirk's death, Orci found the storyline too unbelievable. "Because Kirk died in the movies — he died in canon — it was very hard to come up with a way to bring him back in the movie that didn't feel contrived," Orci revealed. There are only 2 weeks left until the premiere of Jon and Kate Plus Eight Yes, Chef Emeril Lagasse will be a guest, but we are talking about something a little more juicy. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the producers are attempting to include footage about the recent drama surrounding Jon and Kate Gosselin. It is a delicate subject, as the producers have to work out the legistics of addressing the scandal on the show without making it seem like they are exploiting the family for commerical reasons. We're sure it won't keep them up at night, though, when their ratings are sure to skyrocket. Will U watch if they talk about the affairs? |

Bad news for Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. The rocker suffered an injury this past Sunday night when he tore his calf muscle onstage during a concert in Atlanta. That sounds painful! Where's the YouTube video????!!! Jane's was starting their song Three Days when he tore his muscle, but surprisingly enough, he performed through the pain and did a full set before getting any medical help. Farrell was taken by ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center after his show. Jane's Addiction is just three days into their joint tour with Nine Inch Nails. But don't expect Farrell to take a break anytime soon. According to a statement, Farrell plans to stay on schedule and perform tonight in Austin. The only down side? He might be sitting down for his next few gigs as his docs have ordered him to stay off his leg for several days to come. [Image via WENN.] |

Mommyhood has really made Nicole Richie a more giving person! Paris Hilton's former BFF is teaming up with other celebs for a good cause. Nicole, along with Anna Getty, Amy Smart, and Rosario Dawson, are doing their part to improve the environment and help keep schools green. Richie and crew are helping the Environmental Media Association, who's teamed up with the Los Angeles Unified School District to bring organic gardens and goodies to urban schools. With the partnership, schools will receive additional funds and will also be gifted with "celebrity mentoring" through EMA's Young Hollywood Board. Sting's wife, Trudie Styler, is receiving her fair share of flack for the size of her carbon footprint! Seems the environmentally aware Styler flew her glam squad on a private jet from New York to Washington D.C. to beautify her for last weekend's White House Correspondents' Dinner! Trudie tried to justify her choice to fly private by informing reporters, "Yes, I do take planes. My life is to travel and my life is also to speak out about the horrors of an environment that is being abused at the hands of oil companies." Not so fast! Sting and his wife have already been criticized for having a "carbon footprint estimated at 30 times that of the average UK resident" and only donating 41% of the proceeds of the musician's benefit concert for the Rainforest Foundation to the charity. Damn! This is hardcore! A New York exhibit centered around the life of John Lennon will feature a paper bag filled with the late singer's bloody clothes from the day of his death. The exhibit also includes handwritten lyrics, guitars, the piano from his apartment, a pair of "his trademark wire-rimmed glasses," and letters recounting his battle against deportation in the 70s. Widow Yoko Ono, who said she feared "criticism" for the exhibit, also said, "I know it's a kind of a sad and very poignant kind of paradox, I think, that he loved this place so much and this where he was killed." Kristin Davis is talking about the much-anticipated sequel to the Sex and the City movie. She says: "We did the first one, and those were our pent-up things that we hadn't finished in the show, so now we're just starting fresh in a way, which is really, really exciting." Davis also told reporters at Modern Bride's 25 Trendsetters of 2009 at NYC's Palace Hotel that she and the girls are just as excited as the fans: "It's very exciting and very different than the first one, which is the luxury of getting to do another one." Kristin's lets nothing loose about the script, but she is very excited about two new editions to the set: Sarah Jessica Parker's twin babies. "I get to hold one when she's holding the other!"
