This is sad news. The famous Times Square Virgin Megastore in NYC is shutting down! The store But, back in August 2007, Virgin Entertainment Group was sold to two real estate companies, which had people questioning the future of the music stores. The Times Square store will be closing this April and will leave the Virgin chain with just five stores. One of them will be the Manhattan Union Square store, which only has an estimated $40 million in annual sales volume. The future of that store is also questionable as the new owners will be deciding what to do with the rest of the locations over the next few months. iTunes must be thrilled! [Image via AP Images.] |

That yucky Austrian saga of Josef Fritzl, the man who held his daughter prisoner in a basement cell for 24-years and fathered seven of her children, is being turned into a play. Srsly! A Vienna, Austria-based theater will stage the 'satiric soap opera' called Fritzl's Bed and Breakfast starting February 23rd. According to reports, the production's director is Hubsi Kramar, a well-known Austrian standup comedian who caused a stir when he tried to attend Vienna's Opera Ball dressed as Adolf Hitler. That's a play we definitely don't want to see! [Image via Getty Images.] |

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has unveiled new measures intended to promote French culture, arts, and history. If you're a teacher or aged 25 or under you can now visit any public museum in France free of charge. Sarkozy also announced plans to establish a new national history museum at some "symbolic site." "Emblematic great monuments, cathedrals, abbeys and small town monuments" (read: tourist traps!) are also receiving a nice kick of cash, as the annual national heritage budget will receive a boost to the tune of 100 million euros, with priority given to those sites. These are only a few of the new measures aimed toward the excellence in the arts. Art and fashion! Viva la France! |

| Lil' Kim's Pissed at Her Portrayal in New Biggie Biopic Posted: 13 Jan 2009 05:45 PM CST
They must have made her look like a huge, mooching hobag! The Biggie Smalls biopic comes out this weekend, and B.I.G. protege/mistress Lil' Kim doesn't like how the film makers made her look. Kim's people released the following statement on her behalf: "The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a 'character' to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work… Even though my relationship with Big was at times very difficult and complicated (as with most relationships we have all experienced at one time or another), it was also genuine and built on great admiration and love for each other. Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I will still continue to carry his legacy through my hard work and music." At the flick's NY premiere, the screenwriter said he understands why Lil Kim might not like the film, but added "I think that Naturi (Naughton) did a great job playing Kim. I think people are going to be a lot more sympathetic towards (Lil Kim) after seeing the movie." Facing the truth about yourself is a hard thing to do sometimes! [Image via Getty Images.] |
