Real Life Superhero! Spider-Man Saves The Day!

Posted: 05 May 2010 05:30 PM PDT

Amazing! Who needs Kick Ass? We have real life superheroes!

Check out this amazing surveillance footage of a comic book store owner, dressed as Spider-Man for International Free Comic Day, apprehend a villainous thief attempting to steal a $150 comic!

The hero, Michael Baulderstone, says:

"We had about 40 people dressed up as their favorite superheroes to celebrate International Free Comic Day, so he didn't have much of a choice but to hand the X-Men omnibus back after a little bit of a scuffle."

HA! Even a jedi helps out!

Way to go, guys!

The Big O Preps Martin Luther King, Jr. Miniseries For HBO!

Sounds good!!

Oprah's production company, Harpo Films, is working with HBO to develop a seven hour miniseries called America: In the King Years, which is based off of Taylor Branch's books about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan is slated to write the script.

Harpo's Kate Forte says:

"People have tried telling this story using Parting the Waters, but nobody had all three books until now and that was incredibly enticing for us. This really is America in the King years, from 1954-68. Dr. King is the most dominant character, but there are so many other players who figure prominently. That includes his relationships with two presidents, JFK and Lyndon Johnson, his relationship with Coretta Scott King and his family, Bobby Kennedy, Stokely Carmichael and SNCC. This will cover the freedom rides, the Birmingham campaign, Selma, and the poor people's march on Washington that he was organizing when he was killed. It will be the seminal Civil Rights era film. We thought Robert's work on The Pacific was incredible and he can hit the ground running."

Sounds like a massive undertaking, but we think the project is in good hands!

We're looking forward to it!

What do U think?? Are U excited to see a Martin Luther King, Jr. miniseries??

MTV's Real World Sued For $5 Million!

A woman filed a major lawsuit against MTV this morning for "invasion of privacy, false light, disclosure of private facts, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress."

According to sources, the woman was recently featured on an episode of The Real World: Washington D.C. and she wasn't exactly seen in the best light. But Golzar Amirmotazedi alleges that what was shown on TV wasn't how things actually went down. She says she was served "several alcoholic beverages, then humiliated and thrown out of the house when she refused to have sex with one of the cast members."

How awful! That maybe how things are done on The Jersey Shore, but certainly not on a television institution like The Real World.

Anyone who appears on the show must sign a waiver so MTV can avoid being sued, but Golzar says that she was too intoxicated to lawfully sign it and the producers know it. She is now seeking $5 million in damages for her humiliation! Her official complaint states:

"Outtakes from the Real World… show that Plaintiff in fact was not in a position to provide her consent to Defendant portraying her in a false light or disclosing private facts about her."

You sure you want to go down this road, girl? Unless they forced fed you tequila in a funnel, we don't see how you getting drunk and making a fool out of yourself is grounds to sue MTV.

You have no case. Might as well accept the shame and move on!

VH1 Gets Scripted

We have a feeling this isn't going to go as well as you all hope it will.

But we are happy to see Dionne Stacey Dash again!

Queen Latifah has written a new show for VH1 called Single Ladies. Revolving around the love lives of three female friends in Atlanta, the cast includes Lauren London, LisaRaye McCoy and Stacey. Sources are saying the show will bring the best of Girlfriends and Sex & The City into one show.

Stacey will be playing a celebrity stylist who is single for the first time, a role she can relate to. She explains:

"My character is very similar to my own life because I've never been single. Literally, since I've been 17 years old. She's never been married, the character than I'm playing, whereas I've been married three times, so that's the difference. It's a really good script."

Maybe it is, but it is going to need one hell of a lead-in to get some viewers.

For The Love of Ray J anyone? Or do U think U'll tune in regardless?

This is so great!

Olympic short track speed skater Blake Skjellerup has officially come out as gay in an interview with Australian magazine DNA. He says:

"Gays are too often given a stereotype. Back when I was 18, and becoming serious about my sport and my Olympic goals, if I could have seen an athlete like myself out there – with whom I could relate to – my journey would have been a lot easier.

"[American figure skater] Johnny Weir meets a specific stereotype, I meet a specific stereotype and [Welsh rugby player] Gareth Thomas meets another. Being gay is just like any other personality trait: it's multifaceted.

"I can't personally relate to Weir or Thomas, and nor will many other young gay athletes out there. But maybe some of them will see something in me to relate to. The more types we provide, the more we'll appeal to people [who are struggling with their sexuality."

Well said!

And good for Blake!
