Pixar's Up is a bonafide monster hit! The animated film has just passed $280 million in box office from theaters worldwide! Up has now topped Wall-E, Toy Story, The Incredibles and Cars in box office earnings, making it the 2nd highest grossing film for the studio. And which Pixar flick holds the number one spot? Finding Nemo, of course! The fishy film brought in a whopping $339 million for the studio back in 2003!! |

In a world of unlikely pairings, this sure isn't the weirdest, but we suspect that Simon Cowell isn't using his big head with this business decision. He's using the little one! Simon has decided to take his gazillion dollars and pool it with fashion fellow Sir Philip Green (owner of Top Shop) to form a global entertainment super-company. Because when you have craters of cash to spare, what else are you going to do but take over the world. The businessmen have their eyes on rivaling the other big wig entertainment companies in the realms of television and fashion. Enter Kate Moss, whose been asked to join the team, subsequently doubling her net worth to $100 million, to direct the "style and image" of the yet to be named mega-brand. A close source says, "Kate has been signed as a figurehead and style setter for the fashion end of the business. She will bring her expertise to the table, advising on all branding and style for clothes, hair and accessories." We suppose as long as they keep her out of the showbusniess end of the venture, she can't do too much damage. Oops, spoke too soon! Mira Sorvino and husband Christopher Backus have welcomed their third child into the world! Holden Paul Terry Backus was born June 22nd and joins big sister Mattea and brother Johnny. We're just hearing about it now because, like Molly Ringwald, the former Oscar winner is a bit of a hasbeen. The pregnancy proved difficult and potentially life-threatening, but mother and child are now healthy, home, and happy. The family said in a statement, "We are overjoyed to bring our beautiful healthy son home to his brother and sister. We are blessed to have a home filled with so much love." [Image via WENN.] |

Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie, Bruno, has a lot of people talking, from the full frontal nudity to the stint with Paula Abdrool to his interview with a real terrorist. Whereas Paula got a good laugh at her own expense, (as did we), the man Bruno labeled a terrorist is heaping mad about his big screen debut and he is ready to give Sacha Baron Cohen what's coming to him: a day in court. Say what now? Oh yes, this is the kind of terrorist that would rather take your money than your life. We suppose that's better, but it sure makes him one crummy bad guy. According to Ayman Abu Aita, Sacha led him to believe that this was a real documentary on the struggles facing the Palestinian cause. He at no point, before or after the interview was conducted, was alerted that the film was for farce: "He said he is a German actor making documentaries watched by young people. … He wanted to make a story to mobilize the young people to help us (Palestinians). … I didn't have any impression he would use my interview in a bad way." In fact, Aita isn't even a terrorist, at least not these days. He was once a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, but now he works as a board member of the Holy Land Trust. Guess they don't have background checks in Palestine. But anyway, deeming Sacha to be a "big liar", Aita is in the process of getting himself a lawyer and dragging Bruno's flamboyant ass to court. Yeah, good luck with that. Guarantee there is all kinds of paperwork you signed that doesn't make them liable. Gotta read that fine print, friend. [Image via WENN.] |

So even though LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is reportedly appalled that his staff set up a website asking for donations from the public to foot the bill for MJ's memorial, Villaraigosa still expects the city of Los Angeles to pay!!!! Such crap! The mayor was on vacation in South Africa when the website went up and has called it "ridiculous," but Villaraigosa believes the city is responsible for the safety costs around the perimeter of the Staples Center. The pricetag? Oh, only $1.4 million!!!! We're curious to see how Villaraigosa will magically make $1.4 million appear out of thin air from a state currently struggling with a $24 billion deficit! |

Las Vegas will be filled with Michael Jackson fever very soon! First, the strip will welcome a special Michael Jackson benefit concert at the Palms Hotel and Casino. The tribute will showcase the talents of "cast members in current shows on the Strip to the big guys, along with some bands," in honor of the late King of Pop. And then, there are some rumblings that Jermaine Jackson, Michael's brother, is planning on meeting with execs at the Wynn Las Vegas. He is hoping to discuss a possible show featuring the remaining members of the Jackson 5. Well, we guess people grieve in all different ways.
