| Kennedy Likely To Get Senatorship, Says The AP Posted: 02 Jan 2009 05:15 PM CST
Get ready for the second coming of Camelot! Two sources close to NY governor David Paterson tell the Associated Press that the gov will appoint former first daughter Caroline Kennedy to Hillary Clinton's soon-to-be-vacated U.S. Senate seat. However, publicly, Paterson says the search 'continues'. The gov has also made it clear that the next junior Senator from New York will have to win re-election on his or her own. The Senate appointee is being viewed as a 'place holder' and will face an election in two years time. Paterson said he won't make an appointment announcement until Hillary's Secretary of State appointment has been confirmed. [Image via WENN.] |

British songstress Lily Allen spent the fist day of 2009 frolicking with her new silver-haired boyfriend off the coast of St. Barth on a luxury yacht. According to reports, 23-year old Lil's new guy is a 45-year old English art gallery owner named Jay Jopling, who also happens to be friends with the singer's dad. Kinda creepy! Would U date one of your parents' friends? Up until September, Jopling was married to a big artsy photographer named Sam Taylor-Wood (Sam also happens to be 'best friends' with Sir Elton John). The two were once dubbed the art world's 'golden couple'. In a past interview Lily said, "I think I like much older men. I hang out with much older people, I go for dinners at posh places and talk about art. I'm meeting more interesting people who tax my brain." It looks like Jay is exactly what Lily was looking for! The world's oldest living person died on Friday. Maria de Jesus became the world's oldest person at age 115 after the death of Edna Parker, also 115, in November. Maria was born in Portugal on September 10th, 1893. She never learned to read or write, and according to her daughter, Maria Madalena, she never "fell ill, nor took any medication" while working the fields and raising her 6 children. American Gertrude Baines, born April 6, 1894 is now the world's oldest living person. Rest in peace! P.S. Is it a coincidence that someone named after Jesus AND Mary lived to be 115??? Maybe not! | Travolta Family Lawyer And Police Release More Information About Teen's Death Posted: 02 Jan 2009 04:12 PM CST
John Travolta and Kelly Preston 's 16-year old son, Jett, died Friday while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. Their lawyer just revealed to media the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Jett apparently suffered a seizure at the family vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene. Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and Preston. Their daughter, Ella Blue is 8-years old. So sad. Update: A police spokeswoman says that Jett hit his head in a bathtub and apparently that triggered the seizure. [Image via WENN.] |
| Sarah And Bristol Palin Speak Out Posted: 02 Jan 2009 04:00 PM CST
As we mentioned earlier this week, the pregnant teenaged daughter of former Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin finally gave birth to a son, Tripp. The underage and unmarried couple are reportedly getting somewhere in the neighborhood of $300,000 from People magazine for the baby photos! So, being the good grandmother that she is, Sarah took to her Alaska governor website to speak out about everything. In a statement, she says, "We are over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby." She did, however, add a short message to warn other young couples to be smarter. She says, "The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair." And then the devout Christian turned to God. She said, "Isn't it just like God to turn those circumstances into such an amazing, joyful blessing when you ask Him to help you through?" As for Bristol Palin, she did what any good politician's daughter should do. She released her own statement about the negatives of teen pregnancy. Bristol says, "Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with — this isn't ideal." Adding that she had to set aside "plans she previously made for herself" in order to take care of her son. A bum was spotted on the beach in Miami! Actually, it's Jared Leto. Even though everyone around him was wearing bathing suits, Leto decided to go dressed like THAT. Since when did it get so cold in Miami? We think the only place people would think Leto looks good dressed like that is in foreign countries, where for some reason he still has a handful of fans.
