As we mentioned last month, Gwen Stefani announced that No Doubt would be getting back together for a reunion tour and new album. The goal was for them to start touring in 2009 and then finish working on the album. However, we've just learned some sad news from ND drummer Adrian Young. During a recent interview, Young said there will be no new music from the group in 2009. Booo!!!!! Young says, "We've been working on a new record off and on now for a bit of time, and we're going to continue to work on a new record next year. We're going to start touring in the spring of '09 through the summer, and we're going to continue to work on music while we're traveling." According to Young, they'll have a mobile studio on the bus and will eventually get to recording a new record. This would be their first new music together in over seven years. As for their musical style now, Young said, "It seems like we've always come from an eclectic background musically. But we seem to always gravitate towards reggae. I can't say that's what our record is going to be like, ’cause it's too early to tell, but what makes us feel really good is reggae music. I can play reggae music to my grave." As for the success of the new album, Young says, "It's a little daunting to put out a record for a successful group. I don't know what's going to happen. We're going to see." Don't keep us waiting that much longer! |

Kate Hudson isn't ready to settle down just yet. In a recent interview Kate says, "I'm actually enjoying being single right now because I really never have been." Translation: "I'm really enjoying going out and sleeping around, more than ever before." But, Kate adds, "I feel good in relationships. I enjoy them, so I feel my best when I'm in something solid. But it's also the first time I've ever taken a step back and gotten a new perspective. So, I've made a conscious decision to try to stay single as long as possible." Translation: "Once I'm tired of whoring myself around, I'll consider settling down with some poor, unsuspecting guy." As for Hudson's family life, she says she plans to take a break next year from working so much in order to spend more time with her son who turns 5 in January. She says of son Ryder, "When he climbs into bed with me, wraps his arms around me and says, 'Mommy, the sun's up! It's a beautiful morning!' I'm sorry, do I really want to go to work then? No!" The Brits love them some musicals! And so do we! The film adaptation of Mamma Mia! has become the biggest hit EVER at the British box office. The musical has made over $95 million just at the UK box office alone since its release on July 18th. That's more than any of the Harry Potter movies or even Titanic brought in. Insane! As for worldwide, the movie has made over $571 million. David Kosse, the president of Universal Pictures International, said "Mamma Mia! is pure escapism, proving a fun and inexpensive way to forget about the state of the economy for a couple of hours." Who are you kidding? People just love musicals! Kosse added, "For Mamma Mia! to make history in this way and beat Titanic, which has held the record in the UK since 1998, is truly phenomenal. This film has exceeded our expectations and delighted audiences around the world since it opened in July." In fact, Mamma Mia! has become the most popular film of the year in 15 countries already. In a new interview with Hello! magazine, Brad Pitt opens up even more about his private life, his six kids and, of course, Santa Angelina Jolie. On being a dad to so many young children, Poppa Pitt says, "It's chaos at times but there's also such joy in our house right now. I look down at the family and I see our boy from Vietnam [Pax] and our daughter from Ethiopia [Zahara] and our girl's from Namibia [Shiloh was born there] and our son who's from Cambodia [Maddox], and… they are all brothers and sisters, man. They are all the same blood." Not really the most poetic guy out there, but still a very touching and loving thing to say. Brad adds, "It is such elation to see them all living together, and getting along together, and to know that we were able to give them a home – in some cases, to give them a life. It's a wonderful thing that we are able to do this because of the jobs we have – and it's a selfish thing, too, because the rewards are extraordinary." So will there be MORE kids in their future? Poppa Pitt reveals, "We've always said that we'll carry on until we find a reason to stop doing this – and, no, we haven't found that reason yet." As for the family, they've been living in Berlin for the last few weeks since Brad is shooting a Quentin Tarantino film. Though he does reveal that the family will be living in the South of France for a while, where they currently have a three-year lease on their 880 acre Chateau. Brad says, "I've been dragging them all from continent to continent lately, so we're going to have to give them a break soon. For the long term, right now, we're choosing France. It's good living there, a really nice way of life. It's a place where the kids can run free and not be hassled – we have a good relationship with the locals, and it's a good base for the family." Royalty! They're just like us! Princess Beatrice's beloved Norfolk Terrier named Max has been gone for a week after disappearing in Windsor Great Park. She's had the dog since she was 13, and even has the mutt's mug on a bag. She's put up posters all over, asking the public for help locating Max. The Queen, an avid animal lover, has also gotten involved in the search for Max, enlisting the aid of gamekeepers, gardeners, and the royal protection police. The poster describes Max as sandy colored, missing two lower front teeth, and un-collared though he is micro-chipped. The poster, however, does not offer a reward!!! As we mentioned earlier this month, "rocker" Avril Lavigne was spotted at dinner and clubbing with her troll-looking hubby Deryck Whibley nowhere in sight. Instead, she was seen out with the original "firecrotch" douchebag and multiple rehaber, Brandon Davis. Guess Deryck didn't like that so much, so In Touch Weekly is reporting that he texted Brandon and said, 'Stay away from my wife!' " How very macho of him. An insider adds that "Avril assured Deryck that it was a business dinner about art, since Brandon makes his living as an art broker." "Art broker?" Hahahaha! Riiiiight! The insider continues, "Deryck trusts his wife, it's just Brandon he doesn't trust." As for April's reps, they deny the story. Brandon is still an upgrade over Deryck. Oprah is saying sayonara to ABC and moving to cable television for a three year deal to produce movies, documentaries, and television series. Seeking a much more eclectic outlet, Queen O's Harpo Films is moving over to the commercial-free, anything-goes zone of HBO. "Oprah Winfrey Presents" has proved successful, aiming for films "positive or inspirational in tone." 2005's adaptation of Their Eyes Were Watching God starring Halle Berry drew one of the biggest TV movie audiences ever. ABC wanted to extend its deal with Oprah, but the Queen O "believed HBO was a better fit." HBO doesn't usually make deals like this, but this is the Queen of the Universe we are talking about here. Network co-president Richard Plepler said that "Oprah personifies excellence and quality in everything she does" because if he hadn't, fire would have rained down on him. Whether or not the Queen will be gracing any of these projects with her thespian presence is yet unknown. [Image via WENN.] |
